Mixing Precipitation of CaCO3 in Natural Waters
نویسندگان
چکیده
The mixing precipitation of CaCO3 in natural waters was theoretically studied by the methods of chemical equilibrium calculation. Results show that mixing precipitation of CaCO3 can be produced by mixing between two unsaturated water samples with respect to CaCO3, two oversaturated water samples, an unsaturated water sample and an oversaturated water sample. Mixing precipitation can be classified into two major different types: mixing precipitation in a strict sense and mixing precipitation in a broad sense. Mixing precipitation in a strict sense refers to the mixing effect that makes the state of CaCO3 change from dissolution into precipitation, or the increases in the precipitability of CaCO3 in mixed water. Mixing precipitation in a broad sense refers to the mixing effect that reduces the solubility of CaCO3 in mixed water. Mixing precipitation is controlled by simultaneous chemical equilibria. Generally, if the HCO3 concentration is higher in one solution and the Ca concentration is higher in the other, mixing precipitation of CaCO3 will occur when they are combined.

Calcium carbonate as ikaite crystals in Antarctic sea ice
[1] We report on the discovery of the mineral ikaite (CaCO3 6H2O) in sea-ice from the Southern Ocean. The precipitation of CaCO3 during the freezing of seawater has previously been predicted from thermodynamic modelling, indirect measurements, and has been documented in artificial sea ice during laboratory experiments but has not been reported for natural sea-ice. It is assumed that CaCO3 forma...
متن کاملAn Experimental Investigation of Different Formation Waters and Injection Water Incompatibility to Obtain the Optimum Water Mixing Ratio in Injection Processes
Scale formation and well plugging due to the incompatibility of injected waters is a critical field problem in oil recovery. A water injection process was successfully performed when the identification of the source of water, water quality considerations, and laboratory compatibility tests were considered. When different waters are mixed, it is necessary to evaluate their compatibility prior to...
متن کاملBacterially mediated precipitation in marine stromatolites.
Stromatolites are laminated, lithified (CaCO3) sedimentary deposits formed by precipitation and/or sediment accretion by cyanobacterial-bacterial mat communities. Stromatolites have been associated with these communities as far back as the Precambrian era some 2+ billion years ago. The means by which microbial communities mediate the precipitation processes have remained unclear, and are the su...

Determination of the type of precipitated calcium sulfate in mixing two incompatible injection and formation waters was studied experimentally in this work at two temperatures of 26oC and 80oC. Here the SEM, EDX and XRD techniques have been used to inspect the temperature effects on the morphology, type, and size of the precipitated calcium sulfate crystals. The result...
متن کاملInvestigation of Barium Sulfate Precipitation and Prevention Using Different Scale Inhibitors under Reservoir Conditions
In this work, scaling tendency and amount of precipitation of barium sulfate (BaSO4) were determined; the process is depending on temperature, pressure and mixing ratio of injection and formation of waters. Results showed that BaSO4 precipitation is largely dependent on mixing ratio. Temperature and pressure had no influence on BaSO4 precipitation. Different sca...
